UK Construction Week 2017 brought together the industry’s foremost brands and innovators for three days in Birmingham, UK at the National Exhibition Centre in the spirit of industry progression and unity. Perhaps the most compelling example of this took place on October 10 at the venue’s Regeneration and Development Hub, in which The Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and The Independent Television Network (ITN Productions) premiered the debut installment of their “Remastering the Future” series, which takes a journalistic look inside technology’s continued emergence within the build industry.

“We don’t just want this to be ‘nice to have’ content. We really want this to have an impact,” said Simon Shelley, Head of Industry News, ITN Productions, as the invited guests sipped champagne and tuned into the film. CIOB CEO Chris Blythe offered up a human perspective aimed at gaining more appreciation for the industry. “We’ve earned a solid reputation for our expertise, and CIOB is helping the industry and its clients through our own building conservation and certification scheme.”

Bluebeam’s clients Ramboll and Skanska are prominently featured within the film, thanks in part to the continued relationship between Bluebeam and CIOB. Bluebeam EMEA Manager, International Marketing Kristine Stene, who spearheaded the project, added, “Partnering with organizations like ITN and CIOB is important to our brand to help media outlets amplify the virtues of digital collaboration and the value of technology within the build industry.”
ITN, an organization with over 60 years of journalistic integrity and experience, offered the audience and selected guests a short-film summary of the series that showed a bird’s eye view of the dedication within the industry.
“As buildings change, as the technology that allows us to create and renovate these incredible buildings changes, what remains the same is the people. And it’s these passionate and driven people that we are trying to bring to screen. When you get passionate people on screen, what you’re watching becomes memorable,” explained Shelley regarding the motivation behind supporting the project.
The online series features two groundbreaking case studies with Skanska Sweden and Ramboll, showcasing Bluebeam Revu and how partnering with a technology firm can deliver more than just design tools and efficiency. As for why Bluebeam played such a significant role within the series, Blythe explained, “One of the reasons for the feature was because customers told us about Bluebeam and what it has helped them do.”
The launch went live worldwide on October 10th, and the videos featuring the case studies can be found here and here.
