The latest selections from Bluebeam VP Sasha Reed's bookmarks list
Bluebeam VP of Industry Advocacy Sasha Reed browses far and wide to keep up with the latest on technology, productivity and innovations from the world of design and construction—and beyond. Here, she periodically shares a few of her favorite recent articles from across the web.
Nathan Miller offers a great look at what we should be focusing on and the questions to ask ourselves to get focused. Favorite quote here: “Uses of technology in the construction industry is akin to using an F16 to get groceries up the street.”
Often I’ve highlighted the parallels between software development and the construction industry. Both build the environments we spend many hours in. Could construction take a page from software and shift from a project perspective to a product mindset? Great quote: “The perspective within these teams isn’t driven by completing projects and moving on to new ones—it’s driven by collecting data about releases, then iterating on them or scaling them down as appropriate.”
Do you feel your organization’s appetite for innovation is waning? If you said yes, you’re not alone. Forrester released, “The Sorry State of Digital Transformation in 2018,” which states the main reason, “It’s a war between old-school technophobe leaders and the technology innovation that represents a completely different way of doing business.” If your battle-weary soul needs some solace, you just may find it here.
And to cheer us all up, who doesn’t love a good story about beer? Recreating ancient beer: Archaeologists find traces of beer in Iraq dating back 2,500 years to ancient Mesopotamia and the Babylonian Empire.
